Alanube, Gosocket, EDICOM: which PAC to choose in Panamá
Objective comparison of the three most used PACs in Panamá for SFEP, with analysis of coverage, infrastructure, local support and integration model.
A PAC (Authorized Certification Provider) is the technical intermediary between you and the DGI. Choosing well matters because service quality shows on every invoice you issue. In Panamá the three most common names are Alanube, Gosocket and EDICOM. This post compares their strengths plainly.
What should you evaluate in a PAC?
- Regional and local coverage — a PAC is only as stable as its network.
- Uptime and SLA — 99.9% is the minimum acceptable standard.
- Issuing latency — how long it takes to return the CUFE.
- Contingency handling — automatic and with retransmission.
- API and documentation — real quality, not brochures.
- Localized support — Panama hours, Spanish.
- Price and model — per document, subscription or bundle.
Alanube
Who they are. Regional provider with operations across Central America and the Caribbean. Certified by the DGI as a PAC in Panamá.
Strengths.
- Regionally replicated infrastructure; low issuing latency.
- Direct integrations with multiple vertical platforms, including FacturaHQ.
- Technical support in Spanish with engineering escalation.
- Well-documented, stable REST API.
Limitations.
- Less known among traditional accountants — more recent in the local market than EDICOM.
Best for. Small and medium businesses that prefer operating through an all-in-one platform (like FacturaHQ) without dealing with direct integration themselves.
Gosocket
Who they are. Regional network with strong presence across LATAM, originally from Chile.
Strengths.
- Long LATAM electronic invoicing track record.
- “Network” model facilitating cross-border interoperability.
- Well suited for companies with multi-country operations.
Limitations.
- Higher price at lower tiers.
- Support less focused specifically on Panamá.
Best for. Medium-to-large companies with multi-country operations that need to standardize regional invoicing.
EDICOM
Who they are. Global provider headquartered in Europe with operations in 70+ countries. Veteran in electronic document interchange (EDI) beyond invoicing.
Strengths.
- Enterprise robustness and compliance across multiple jurisdictions.
- Advanced EDI capabilities (purchase orders, delivery notes, shipping docs).
- 24/7 support for enterprise accounts.
Limitations.
- High cost for SMBs.
- Complex onboarding; typically requires consulting.
- More corporate-focused than small-business-friendly.
Best for. Large corporations with complex EDI flows, retail chains, manufacturing with dozens of suppliers or customers.
Quick comparison table
| Criterion | Alanube | Gosocket | EDICOM |
|---|---|---|---|
| Orientation | SMB / mid | Mid / regional | Enterprise |
| Relative price | $ | $$ | $$$ |
| Support in Panamá | Direct | Regional | Corporate |
| Onboarding curve | Low | Medium | High |
| Cross-border native | Medium | High | Very high |
| EDI interoperability | Basic | Medium | Full |
What if I choose wrong?
Documents issued by a PAC can be exported with their CUFE and signed XML. Changing PACs doesn’t destroy history, but it does involve:
- Reassigning the digital certificate.
- Reconfiguring integrations and numbering.
- Retraining the team.
So if you’re entering SFEP now, it pays to pick carefully from the start.
Our operational recommendation
For most Panamanian SMBs (1-50 employees, normal volume), Alanube offers the best combination of stability, support and price. That’s why FacturaHQ integrates with Alanube by default: our customers get a 100% Spanish, Panamanian platform that inherits the technical reliability of a mature regional PAC.
If your company is part of a multinational chain or has complex EDI needs, EDICOM may be the right choice — though rarely self-service. Check with your ERP which integrations ship a direct connector.
